Overview
The IMTUF 100M isn’t just another race, it’s a full-body mountain experience. Starting and finishing at Jug Mountain Ranch outside of McCall, Idaho, this post-doctoral level ultra is where runners come to test the limits of their grit and skill. The course winds deep into the Salmon River Mountains, where steep ascents, technical descents, and relentless climbs stack up into a race that finishers compare to — or tougher than — the most legendary 100 milers in the world.
This is a race where you’ll hear elk bugling in the high country, see rugged peaks split the horizon, and know that you’re racing on a course with soul. For 14 years, IMTUF has earned its reputation as one of the hardest and most beautiful ultras in North America. The challenge is steep, but the reward is unforgettable.

Course Description
The IMTUF 100M Supercourse is a single-loop adventure through the Salmon River Mountains. Expect steep climbs that will test your lungs, long descents that will pound your quads, and rugged, technical footing that demands constant attention. The route traverses alpine ridges with expansive views, dives into deep canyons alongside wild rivers, and passes through terrain where wildlife is as much a part of the landscape as the runners. Elk bugles echo during peak rut season, and you may share the course with moose, deer, eagles, and even the occasional wolf or bear.
For the 100M, runners cover more than 100 miles with 22,000ft of gain and equally punishing descent. This is a course for mountain athletes who want adventure, not comfort.
For those looking for a shorter but still rugged challenge, the Jughandle 20M offers a slice of the IMTUF spirit on September 21.
