Overview
Alaska Mountain Runners (AMR) is the central hub for mountain running in Alaska, promoting a vibrant community of trail and peak runners since 1999. Based in Anchorage, AMR is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the sport of mountain running while fostering deep respect for the rugged and awe-inspiring Alaskan landscape.
The organization serves as the anchor point for many of the state’s most iconic and challenging races, including the Mount Marathon Race, Bird Ridge Hill Climb, Kal’s Knoya Ridge Run, and the Juneau Ridge Race, among others. These events form the backbone of the AMR Grand Prix Series, a collection of races that test strength, speed, and vertical grit in Alaska’s most dramatic terrain.
Whether you’re chasing a podium on Mount Marathon, looking to summit a ridgeline with friends, or simply seeking to connect with nature through running, Alaska Mountain Runners offers an inclusive and inspiring space to do so. The organization is not just about races, it's about sustaining a way of life rooted in respect for wild places, healthy movement, and the enduring spirit of the Alaskan outdoors.
