Overview
Back Country Horsemen of Washington (BCHW) is a community of horse enthusiasts dedicated to keeping trails open, wildlands accessible, and our backcountry heritage alive. With 31 chapters across the state, we provide volunteer support for trail maintenance, educate riders on Leave-No-Trace principles, and partner with public agencies to steward Washington’s public lands.
Whether you’re looking to saddle up for a day of trail work, learn more about responsible backcountry riding, or simply connect with fellow horse lovers, BCHW offers opportunities for camaraderie, adventure, and making a tangible difference. Our mission is simple: enjoy horses in the backcountry, protect the trails we love, and inspire the next generation of riders to do the same.
