Overview
Trailkeepers of Oregon (TKO) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to protecting and enhancing Oregon’s hiking trails through stewardship, advocacy, outreach, and education. From restoring neglected paths to maintaining beloved trails, TKO empowers volunteers to keep Oregon’s trails open, safe, and enjoyable for everyone.
Born from the Portland Hikers community in 2007, TKO has grown into a statewide force connecting thousands of volunteers with trail projects across forests, state parks, and local green spaces. Each year, volunteers contribute countless hours to trail parties, maintenance projects, and educational programs like Trailkeepers University, ensuring that hikers of all backgrounds can experience Oregon’s incredible outdoor spaces.
At TKO, we believe that trails are for everyone. Our work promotes access, equity, and stewardship, while fostering a community of passionate trail advocates who care for the environment and each other. Whether you’re brushing back overgrowth, building new trail segments, or advocating for trail funding, your efforts make a lasting impact on Oregon’s trails and the people who love them.
