British Columbia
Overview
Trails BC, officially the Trails Society of British Columbia, is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing, preserving, and promoting sustainable trail networks across the province—including a major portion of the Trans Canada Trail. Since 1995, we’ve worked to create spaces where people can enjoy hiking, cycling, horseback riding, skiing, and other human-powered activities while respecting the environment and cultural heritage of the land.
Our mission is to ensure that trails remain accessible, safe, and enjoyable for everyone, while preventing incompatible uses that compromise the trail experience. We partner with communities, governments, and Indigenous Nations to protect natural and historic trail corridors, raise funds, and engage volunteers in stewardship efforts.
At Trails BC, we value active recreation, responsible trail use, and the connection between people and the landscapes around them. Through advocacy, volunteer programs, and community involvement, we work to make British Columbia’s trails a welcoming, enduring resource for generations to come.
