Overview
Washington Trails Association (WTA) is the voice for hikers and public lands across our state. Since 1966, we’ve grown from a small hiking magazine into Washington’s largest hiking and trail stewardship community. Today, we mobilize thousands of people every year to explore, protect, and champion the trails and wild places we all love.
Our mission is simple but powerful: trails for everyone, forever.
We believe that time in nature strengthens hearts, minds, and communities—and that everyone should have the opportunity to experience it. That’s why we’re working to break down barriers to access, protect and restore public lands, and empower people to give back through trail maintenance, advocacy, and education.
From organizing the nation’s largest volunteer trail crews to shaping trail funding and policy, WTA brings together hikers, volunteers, partners, and supporters to ensure Washington’s trails remain open, sustainable, and welcoming for generations to come.
