The Evergreen season finale

The Evergreen season finale

Overview

Grand Ridge is the grand finale of the Evergreen Trail Runs season, and it’s the kind of send-off every trail runner dreams of. Tucked into the deep forests of the Cascade foothills, this race invites you to lose yourself among mossy trees, golden autumn leaves, and rolling fern fields. Whether you’re toeing the line for 5M or 50K, the trails here deliver the perfect mix of runnable paths and lung-pumping climbs.

Since 2000, Washington Trails Association has helped connect miles of singletrack through this ridge system, creating one of the most versatile networks for running, hiking, and biking. Expect a festive atmosphere, cheering volunteers, and the kind of trail community energy that makes you want to come back year after year.

Course Description

All races begin at the Highpoint Way Trailhead, rolling out on the Issaquah-Preston Trail before climbing into the forested ridge. Rocky switchbacks and winding singletrack make the terrain engaging, while steady climbs reward you with sweeping forest views. The half marathon loop runs closer to 14M than 13.1M, so be ready for a little extra adventure. Marathoners double up on this loop, and 50K runners add the 5M lollipop loop for good measure. The 5M course delivers a fast and punchy sampler of Grand Ridge’s best features.

Highlights include rocky, technical switchbacks, flowing descents through the Flowing Fir Trail, and a visit to the lively Duthie Aid Station. Trails remain open to other users, so expect friendly hikers and bikers along the way.

About

Evergreen Trail Runs

Evergreen Trail Runs is a Pacific Northwest-based trail racing organization dedicated to creating inclusive, community-oriented events across Western Washington. Founded in 2010 by Roger Michel and Yumay Chang, Evergreen began with a vision to connect runners with the region’s rich network of trails. Now a part of Orca Running, Evergreen Trail Runs continues to thrive under the leadership of Co-Owners Katie Warren, Porter Bratten, and Ashley Lee.

What sets Evergreen apart is its approachable and friendly atmosphere, along with its deep respect for the natural environment. The crew behind the scenes are mountain lovers and outdoor enthusiasts who bring that passion to every event—from race logistics and course setup to volunteer coordination and marketing. The team is a tight-knit group of runners, adventurers, and professionals who live and breathe the outdoors, including avalanche forecasters, endurance athletes, and social media storytellers.

Evergreen Trail Runs is more than just a race organizer—it’s a movement rooted in stewardship, adventure, and joy on the trails. Runners show up not just to race, but to be part of something bigger: a trail-loving, mountain-moving, environmentally conscious community.
