Course Description

Lord Hill delivers a full spectrum of trail running joy: steep hills, soft forested flats, quick descents, rocky patches, and a few muddy surprises that will keep you honest. Every distance starts with the climb up Lord Hill, a punchy ascent that sets the tone for the day. Once you crest the ridge, the course threads through neon-green ferns, crosses cold creeks, and skirts the edges of quiet lakes. The trails wind over Devil’s Butte, descend into canyons, and climb back out before linking onto wider paths toward the finish.

For the 5K, you’ll scale the infamous Lord Hill before cutting back to the finish on a fun, fast descent. The 10M loop gives you the full tour of the park, with rolling terrain after that first climb. The 20M doubles the loop, and the 50K triples it, testing both stamina and grit. Aid stations are strategically placed to keep you fueled, and every lap delivers the mix of mud, roots, and scenery that makes the Pacific Northwest trails unforgettable.

Logistics

The closest major airport is Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, approximately 50 minutes away. Everett’s Paine Field Airport is also nearby, only 20 minutes from Snohomish.

Parking

Due to limited parking, 5K and 10M runners must park at Monroe High School, 17001 Tester Rd, Monroe, WA 98272, and use the free shuttle. Only 20M and 50K runners are permitted to park at the start/finish area.

Lodging

Nearby lodging options include hotels in Monroe and Everett. Snohomish also has local inns and short-term rentals for those looking to stay closer to the race start.

Aid Stations

The course is supported with well-stocked aid stations offering hydration, snacks, and warm food options for longer distances. Volunteers keep spirits high and help runners push through muddy miles. Aid stations are positioned to provide steady support throughout the loops. 20M course has aid stations at 4.5, 10, and 14.5 miles.

Race Requirements

This race welcomes runners of all levels, but participants should be prepared for challenging climbs, muddy terrain, and winter trail conditions. Strong trail shoes are highly recommended.

Crew, Pacers & Spectators

Crew and visitors are welcome at Lord Hill. Shuttles are available for families of 5K and 10M runners, while 20M and 50K participants may park on-site. All visitors must respect the trails, other park users, and race staff directions.

Volunteers

Volunteers are always welcome and are essential to the Tiger Peak Challenge. Roles include aid station support, course marshaling, and finish line setup. To sign up, visit evergreentrailruns.com/volunteer.

Charity & Beneficiary

Evergreen Trail Runs proudly supports the Washington Trails Association, helping to maintain and protect trails across the region. Runners can also opt into Trees Not Tees, planting a tree instead of receiving a race shirt.

Land Acknowledgement

Lord Hill takes place on the traditional lands of the Snohomish, Tulalip, and Coast Salish peoples. We honor their stewardship of these lands since time immemorial and are grateful to run in their footsteps.

About

Evergreen Trail Runs

Evergreen Trail Runs is a Pacific Northwest-based trail racing organization dedicated to creating inclusive, community-oriented events across Western Washington. Founded in 2010 by Roger Michel and Yumay Chang, Evergreen began with a vision to connect runners with the region’s rich network of trails. Now a part of Orca Running, Evergreen Trail Runs continues to thrive under the leadership of Co-Owners Katie Warren, Porter Bratten, and Ashley Lee.

What sets Evergreen apart is its approachable and friendly atmosphere, along with its deep respect for the natural environment. The crew behind the scenes are mountain lovers and outdoor enthusiasts who bring that passion to every event—from race logistics and course setup to volunteer coordination and marketing. The team is a tight-knit group of runners, adventurers, and professionals who live and breathe the outdoors, including avalanche forecasters, endurance athletes, and social media storytellers.

Evergreen Trail Runs is more than just a race organizer—it’s a movement rooted in stewardship, adventure, and joy on the trails. Runners show up not just to race, but to be part of something bigger: a trail-loving, mountain-moving, environmentally conscious community.
