Overview
Squak Mountain Trail Run is one of Evergreen Trail Runs' most challenging and beloved events, held just outside Seattle in the lush wilderness of Squak Mountain State Park. With steep climbs, technical descents, and expansive views, this race is a rite of passage for trail runners ready to level up. The park’s proximity to the city and its remote feel make this race a perfect blend of accessible and adventurous.

Course Description
Runners start with a steady climb that sets the tone for the day—lungs pumping, legs firing. The 12K course branches off toward the summit before swooping back down, while the Half and 50K runners push farther up to conquer the Southeast Peak. The Half loops across ridges and summits the West Peak, while the 50K doubles down, adding extra loops for serious vert before circling back.
Highlights include sweeping summit views, the historic Bullitt homestead ruins, and plenty of rolling, rooty, technical singletrack that will keep you on your toes. Trails are well-marked, but with intersections throughout, studying the map before race day is a must.
Logistics
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is the nearest major airport, located about 30 minutes from the race start in Issaquah, Washington.
Driving Directions
Parking
Parking is limited at the trailhead. 50K runners receive priority at the main lot. Additional parking is available on SE 135th St. in the Sunset Valley Farms neighborhood with a short walk to the start. Please stay on pavement when parking and avoid blocking driveways or parking on grass. Carpooling is strongly encouraged.
Passes Required
Lodging
Issaquah and the surrounding area offer plenty of lodging options, from hotels to short-term rentals. Nearby Seattle also has accommodations for those seeking a city stay before or after the race.

Runners will find fully stocked aid stations with water, Tailwind, gels, gummies, and snacks. Friendly volunteers will help keep you fueled and smiling. Aid stations are located at 3.4M for the 12K, 6.2M and 9.7M for the Half Marathon, and 6.2M, 9.7M, 13.0M, 19.2M, 22.7M, and 26.0M for the 50K.

About
Evergreen Trail Runs
Evergreen Trail Runs is a Pacific Northwest-based trail racing organization dedicated to creating inclusive, community-oriented events across Western Washington. Founded in 2010 by Roger Michel and Yumay Chang, Evergreen began with a vision to connect runners with the region’s rich network of trails. Now a part of Orca Running, Evergreen Trail Runs continues to thrive under the leadership of Co-Owners Katie Warren, Porter Bratten, and Ashley Lee.
What sets Evergreen apart is its approachable and friendly atmosphere, along with its deep respect for the natural environment. The crew behind the scenes are mountain lovers and outdoor enthusiasts who bring that passion to every event—from race logistics and course setup to volunteer coordination and marketing. The team is a tight-knit group of runners, adventurers, and professionals who live and breathe the outdoors, including avalanche forecasters, endurance athletes, and social media storytellers.
Evergreen Trail Runs is more than just a race organizer—it’s a movement rooted in stewardship, adventure, and joy on the trails. Runners show up not just to race, but to be part of something bigger: a trail-loving, mountain-moving, environmentally conscious community.
