Course Description
The Ancient Lakes course is a stunning cloverleaf design centered around a main aid station at the start/finish. Each loop delivers a completely different desert adventure — from a roaring waterfall framed by basalt cliffs, to the quiet shorelines of hidden lakes, to a thrilling drop into the mighty Columbia River Gorge. Expect wide-open skies, rolling terrain, and zero shade — the desert sun here means even a cool day can feel warm.

Trail Work
Mandatory Gear
All runners must carry a hydration system capable of holding at least 16oz of liquid. Expect dry desert air and no shade on course. Runners must show their hydration system at bib pick-up.

No refunds or deferrals
Distance changes allowed up to 2 weeks before event (via UltraSignup)
Bring your own water bottle/hydration pack
Zero tolerance for littering – violation = disqualification & ban
Dogs not allowed on course (okay at start/finish if leashed)
Expect dry conditions; even 50–60°F feels hot in full sun
Hydration system (16 oz minimum) checked at bib pickup

Drop Bags
Drop bags may be placed at the start/finish line, with access after every loop (every 4–7 miles). Bags left behind will not be mailed and must be collected after the race.
Bib Pick-up
Packet pick-up is available race morning only at the start/finish line at Bishop Recreation Area. Runners should arrive 30–45 minutes before their start time.

Cancelations & Deferrals
Dogs
Dogs are not allowed to run in the race, but well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome at the start/finish area.
Kids
There is no specific kids race and no youth discounts.
Crew, Pacers & Spectators
Crew and spectators are welcome at the start/finish area, where they can see runners after each loop. There is no crew access at other points on the course.
