Overview

The Hood Hundred is a 100-mile mountain ultra that immerses runners in the majestic beauty of Mt. Hood’s most iconic and varied terrain. With over 17,000 feet of ascent and descent, this lollipop-loop course challenges runners to push deep while celebrating community, determination, and the sacred spirit of the mountain.

Hosted at the locally owned Mt. Hood Meadows ski area, the event combines world-class trail running with inclusive vibes and professional production, culminating in a festive finish line under the shadow of Oregon’s tallest volcano.

Course Description

The Hood Hundred course is a challenging 100-mile lollipop loop that delivers everything a mountain runner could ask for: rugged singletrack, stunning alpine vistas, deep forest shade, and fast flowing trails that demand both grit and joy. Expect long climbs that reward with wide-open views, cascading streams to cool your legs, and stretches of wildflower meadows in full summer bloom. With 17,300ft of climbing and equal descent, this course will test your endurance and reward your spirit at every turn.

Logistics

The closest airport is Portland International Airport (PDX), about 75-90 minutes from the race start. Government Camp is 15 minutes away and Hood River is 40 minutes north with additional lodging options.

Parking

Daytime parking at Mt. Hood Meadows is free. Single vehicles only are permitted at crewed aid stations. No RVs, buses, or trailers are allowed.

Lodging

RV and car camping are allowed in the paved lots at Mt. Hood Meadows on Friday and Saturday night. There is an overnight fee. Lodge restrooms are available 24 hours. Hotel lodging is available in Government Camp and Hood River. Dispersed camping is available at Mt. Hood National Forest campgrounds.

Aid Stations

Runners will find fully stocked aid stations with food, water, electrolytes, and medical support throughout the course. Crew-accessible stations make it easier to get additional gear or encouragement along the way. Every station is staffed with experienced volunteers ready to help you push through the highs and lows.

Race Requirements

This is a highly challenging 100M mountain ultramarathon. Runners must be prepared for high elevation, steep climbs, and technical terrain. Prior ultramarathon experience is strongly recommended.

Trail Work

All participants must complete 8 hours of volunteer service between July 1, 2025 and June 30, 2026. This can include volunteering at a permitted ultramarathon, trail maintenance work, or organizing race activities. Proof of service must be submitted by July 1, 2026.

Qualifying Races

Completion of previous ultramarathon distances is strongly recommended. The Hood Hundred is a Western States qualifier, requiring a sub-34 hour finish to qualify for the WSER lottery.

Mandatory Gear

Runners should be prepared for mountain conditions and may be required to carry specific gear. Gear requirements will be communicated closer to race day.

Policies

  • No race morning bib pickup; must check in Friday

  • No drop bags or vehicles larger than vans at crew aid stations

  • Cutoff is 34 hours to be considered a finisher and WSER-qualifying

  • Registration is non-refundable within final weeks (see Daybreak Cancellation Policy)

  • Waitlist available for sold-out events

  • Volunteer perks available and highly encouraged

Event Details

Drop Bags

Drop bags must be dropped off on Friday, July 31 during check-in at Mt. Hood Meadows Sun Deck. Shuttles transport bags to designated aid stations. Any bags left behind after the event will be donated or discarded.

Bib Pick-up

Bib pickup is mandatory on Friday, July 31 from 3:00PM to 5:00PM at Mt. Hood Meadows Sun Deck. There is no bib pickup on race morning.

Cancelations & Deferrals

Crew, Pacers & Spectators

Crew and pacers are welcome and play a key role in supporting runners throughout the course. Crews must adhere to strict vehicle size rules at aid stations, as only single vehicles no larger than vans are permitted. RVs, buses, and trailers are not allowed. Visitors are welcome at the start/finish area to cheer on runners and join in the post-race celebration.

Daybreak Racing is a Pacific Northwest–based trail running company dedicated to producing beautiful, original, and challenging trail races in spectacular natural settings. Their events emphasize safety, participant support, and an inclusive, festive atmosphere, blending professional-level race production with a welcoming, community-driven vibe.
