Time-trial up, fly down, brag at the brewery

Overview

A short, savage time trial on Firelane 1 that climbs hard, flips at the gate, and blasts back to the trailhead. It is steep in places, fast in others, and pure Forest Park grit from first step to finish. After you catch your breath, the celebration moves to Great Notion Brewing for live results, beverages, and community vibes. Hill yeah.

Course Description

Start at the new Firelane 1 lower trailhead off NW St. Helens Road, run 2.23 miles up the doubletrack to the gate, tag the camera, then let gravity do its thing on the return to the finish. Expect punchy grades that flirt with 20 percent, firm to loose gravel underfoot, and quick transitions where Firelane 1 crosses Wildwood and Leif Erikson; watch for cross traffic. Lower sections can be rutted and off-camber when wet, so bring grippy shoes and sharp focus. Stunning big-tree vibes and glimpses toward Mt. Hood reward the burn.

  • Hard-packed dirt trail

  • 4.45 miles out-and-back

  • 1,266 ft of gain & loss

  • Steep grade sections (20%+)
